Tumi Ishi Blocks
A new take on the classic wooden building block. These are Tumi ishi wooden balancing stones. The concept for these wooden stones originated in Japan; the name Tumi ishi is Japanese for piled stones. There is some debate where the idea of stacking stones as a past time came from, but one thing is for sure, its lots of fun. Unfortunately giving your kids a pile of rocks to stack in your living room isn't the best idea (trust us, we tried). So, we made up a batch of these wooden "stones," and everybody loved them. Unlike standard square blocks, these blocks have many sides making them more challenging to stack. In turn, we have decided that these will absolutely make you and your children smarter......or maybe we're just biased. All joking aside, they do promote creative, out of the box thinking and problem solving. Our blocks will last generations as a true heritage toy, and open-ended game in your home. We recommend Tumi Ishi blocks for ages 2 to 100 years old.
We make each block by hand so no two blocks are alike; they approximately measure from 2" to 4". We use the highest quality sustainably sourced wood; such as, black walnut, hard maple, cherry, cedar, and oak. We carefully sand each block and finish them with our own blend of jojoba oil and beeswax. Our finish is 100% organic and 100% non-toxic. We use no stain or paint on any of the blocks; they are all the natural wood color of the individual wood species.
If you are looking for something relaxing, challenging and interesting to do, these wooden stones are just the ticket. Our blocks also make a great unique gift for that hard to shop for person.
These also make beautiful and classy decorative pieces. Put them in a glass dish, stack them on your dining room table, coffee table, or desk and watch people ooh and ahh (and try not to play with them).
